Let me start by saying I rarely give 5 star reviews, because usually there is something that upsets me about nearly every book I read. This book is one of the exceptions.First of all, this book is very complex. Telling five or six stories at the same time is a disaster for most writers. But not only was the stories told well, they all tied in together.
Do you like double cross? Triple cross? Even more crosses? There is great detail in some of the less known points of the story and I think it helped to know these points. So we have gangsters, a married couple, a pool cleaner, and a chemist. Those are just the main players. But the supporting characters are just as well done.
Get this book if you are at all interested in a well told story with plenty of suspense and action.

It's a great, entertaining, addictive, and well thought out and written thriller that i highly recommend to anyone who enjoys a book littered with landmines of twists, surprises, and suspense.
This novel was a great read. The character build process is quite good and convincing. I loved how the book told a story while touring across the country. The best part is the end which left me with a feeling of completion and satisfaction.
Good story...kept thinking it was all true! Never quite knew what was going to happen next. Enjoyed the book and couldn't put it down!
Good light reading and hard to put down. Needs some proof work to keep the two main female characters from straight.
Really good read! A few editing errors, but overall I give this book a big thumbs up! Can't wait to read more by this author.
Check Mate is a strong addictive page turner. It follows Mark Miller and the two very strong women in his life A psychopath named Jen, and a dreamer named Emily. This book is one of those that keep you on the edge of your seat throughout the whole read. The characters are deep and well fleshed out and the emotions they express are depicted with a lot of intensity, leaving the readers to sympathize and connect to our protagonists and feel that they are a part of the story.
Enjoyed how all the little subplots worked out. This was a very entertaining story. A fun and exciting read over all.
Good writing in War of the Roses genre. Different strokes where the losers end up beating the odds. Will look for more books by writer.
